Who We Are
The First Presbyterian Church of Polson means different things to different people.
For its members and friends, it’s a house of worship, a caring congregational family; a place for sharing joys and sorrows, triumphs and tragedies; a place for study; a setting for fellowship, potlucks, Christian education, and counseling; a place offering something in every phase of life—from birth to death.

For others, it’s a building for community gatherings, committee meetings, music practice, therapy sessions, weddings, funerals, and receptions.
It’s all of these and a landmark too—one of the oldest church buildings in western Montana.
First and foremost, however, the First Presbyterian Church of Polson is a worshipping, caring, loving congregational family of some 100 members and many active friends.
The congregation is the church. The building is the family’s church home.
What We Believe
We believe in one God, eternally existent as a Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who was born of the Virgin Mary and was fully God and fully human. In the Bible, John 3:16 makes it clear what His mission was: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” Through his death on the cross, Jesus paid the penalty for all of our sins; and through his resurrection, the way has been opened to everlasting life to those who believe.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live a new and beautiful life.

We believe in the Church: the household of faith, the agency through which God works to bring change in our broken world; directing us in the worship of our glorious God, announcing the good news in a ‘bad news’ world, creating a community of love and service to the world.

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. It instructs us in what to believe and how to behave.
